Featuring a natural look and youthful firmness, these teardrop shaped implants have been used for over a decade and in over 70 countries. They are now FDA approved and a beautiful option for you and Dr. Roche to consider.
MENTOR® Memory Shape™ Breast Implants (aka Gummy Bear Implants) are the latest innovation in breast implants. The implants are filled with a highly cohesive gel and have a unique, tapered appearance often referred to as “gummy bears.” Unlike round breast implants, MENTOR® Memory Shape™ Breast Implants are teardrop shaped, meaning they are thinner at the top and gently slope to a fuller projection point near the implant’s bottom to mimic the silhouette of a natural breast. Each Memory Shape™ Implant features SILTEX® Texture, a gentle imprinting process designed to help keep your implants in place.
Dr. Roche uses Mentor implants.
Saline implants with Mentor come in three profiles. Although they are all round, they come in low, moderate, and high profile saline implants. The rounder and more full with increased projection the implant has, the less visibility and rippling with size of the bag will show. Saline implants are FDA-approved. There is no risk of extra capsular spread of silicone, and no diagnostic testing is needed to detect a rupture. Saline implants are a more affordable option than Silicone implants.
Silicone implants were reintroduced in November 2006 by the FDA for the use of primary augmentation, primary reconstruction and revision augmentation patients for women 22 years of age and over. They may be used on women under the age of 22 with specific diagnosis of congenital breast asymmetry, reconstruction or breast cancer reconstruction, or off label use on all.. Silicone implants are FDA approved. Silicone implants result in a more natural appearance, and silicone implants have a stronger shell than Saline implants. These types of implants are ideal for thin chested women.
The most common reason for women to have a breast implant exchange is to change breast size. Increasing size is more common but some do go smaller. A breast implant exchange procedure is less invasive than the original breast surgery. Patients generally experience less discomfort and have a faster recovery time. Patients may desire to change saline implants to silicone or silicone to shaped implants. Saline or silicone exchange may require a secondary procedure with the skin in order to tighten skin if significant volume and skin laxity has occurred.
Often patients ask Dr. Roche to remove fat from one area and put it to use somewhere else. It is possible to sculpt an area of excess fat and meticulously inject your own fatty tissue into areas where aging has caused fatty deposits to deteriorate. Fat transfers are an enhancing procedure designed to lift the breasts to a higher position, add volume, and enhance its shape. The procedure results in youthful, prominent, perky breasts, and a more sensual body profile. People of all ages are having the breast procedure. Dr. Roche removes fat from selected areas of your body and then re-injects the fat into your breasts. There is no chance of rejection with fat transfer- since your own fat is being used. The resulting effect is more attractive and sensuous. Dr. Roche is one of the few surgeons in Michigan to utilize fat transfer procedures to further guarantee the success of his fat grafts and your speedy recovery. Fat transfer to the breast may take several procedures to complete a desired look. Learn more about Fat Transfer.
