The S-Lift (Alternative to Facelift)
An alternative to the traditional facelift is the "S-Lift" or "Small Facelift." The S-Lift provides an overall lift to the lower third of a patient's face and cheeks. Compared to a facelift, it is a quicker operation with fewer complications allowing patients to get back to normal life sooner.
The S-Lift technique uses Laser Assisted Ultrasonic Liposculpting to the face. The procedure removes excess fat from the cheeks, chin and neck and tightens the skin. The S-Lift requires an S-formed excision in the area forward of the ear. The skin is lifted and the underlying muscles and tissues are tightened and repositioned. The opening is closed using fine sutures. Recovery is faster due to a special new suspension technique that minimizes surgery because it is less invasive. The procedure normally takes 60-90 minutes.
Men and women that are between the ages of 30-50, who are in good health, and have mild to moderate lower facial and or neck laxity, and who have a desire to stay a few steps ahead of the aging process.

"My patients tell me their friends say that after their S-Lift they don't look like they had surgery, they just look younger and happier. One reason is that the telltale scar is eliminated behind the ears and temporal region and there's no hair loss," says Dr. Roche. Other benefits include a faster recovery time, less risk of complication and a more natural look.
Many patients elect to combine the S-Lift procedure with other procedures such as microdermabrasion, fat transfer, a brow lift and laser resurfacing. Once the decision to have the S-Lift is made, these other procedures can have an even more dramatic impact.

After the procedure, patients are advised to rest for 24 hours. There may be some minor bruising and swelling for a day or two. The incision site will require a small bandage for two to three days. Mild pain relievers may be needed. After that time patients may shower and men may shave. Sutures will be removed after 6-7 days. Patients are also advised to avoid exposure to the sun and to protect their skin with sun block. Most can expect to resume normal activities within 4-5 days.
